Waaah!

My outlining skills suck! I had set aside 3 hours today for outlining and I have nothing to show for it. That's rather disappointing.
I have many ideas for character interaction but my plotting skills are blah.
And there's one scene where I can't make up my mind who's perspective to use.

But mostly I need a clearer picture of the opposition and I have to introduce the complications sooner. *sigh*
The formula I want to use allocates a certain amount of space to the opposition. It also requires me to introduce the opposition within the first quarter of the book - which makes sense. Unfortunately I have no opposition that actively works against the heroine, she has other problems to overcome, like the need to fit into a new culture, her lack of funds, religious persecution, and other practical matters. And just when it looks like she's settling in I want her to accidentally make a powerful enemy. But that's supposed to happen towards the end of the first third.... At least that was the plan. And maybe that's too late. And it has nothing to do with my heroine's major quest - which is one of self-discovery. *glares at pile of section sheets*

Well, at least I called the editor who told me the word requirements.
My target number is 80.000 words.
