  • finally got to talk to my dad. The conversation was stilted, full of awkward pauses, but at least I reached him. Thank god.

  • went to see/hear Philipp Glass's opera Gallileo Gallilei (an opera that has only been performed once in New York)

  • received a parcel from [livejournal.com profile] blondegirlchris with cookies and teddy bear rucksacks for the girls. Thank you, Chris!!!

  • didn't write a thing (oh well, it was Tina's b-day and I played a boardgame with her and made her food she liked)

Thank you. :-) We talked for about a quarter of an hour. We really don't have a lot to say to each other. I mostly told him about the kids, he talked about his failing health. *sigh*

Funnily enough, Tina was invited to another girl's birthday party. Her own party is scheduled for January 8th. :-) I think she had a nice day.

Thank you.

I'm glad to hear that you finally got in touch with your dad. I'm sure that it was a relief to be able to speak to him, even if he's not very adept at the emotional connecting.

Didn't Phillip Glass write an opera called "Einstein on the Beach" as well?

I have no idea. I am not a Philipp Glass fan - but the friend I went with, he is. I knew he liked Glass, so when I saw the ad for the production I asked him if he was interested. He practically strained himself in his eagerness to get tickets. :-) He also invited me to come along. It was a nice cultural experience. Off the beaten track, for me.
