Another movie review: The Wild

The Wild - we took the kids to watch the latest in animated furries. Tina thought it was meh, Vicky was entertained, but not thrilled. We adults thought it was pretty dull. Nice animations, but the storyline was way too predictable and saccharine. A bit like a Madagaskar clone, only Madagaskar was waay better. What is it with Disney lately? Why are all the conflicts solved through violence? We watched that abysimal Cow movie a while back, I forgot the title, and it was so utterly bad, I am still trying to wipe the yodling cowboy from my memory. Will avoid all things Disney in the future, even if the trailer looks promising.
I am getting a bit annoyed with the rampant post-modern "humor" that permeates recent animation films. I appreciate that the film makers try to tmake the movie entertaining for the parents as well, but a good movie needs more than a script full of haphazard tongue-in-cheek references to other movies and fast editing.
I hope Over the Hedge is better, because the kids are really keen on it. So, only 1,5 out of 5 roars for The Wild.

Mr WG took the boy to see The Wild and they left after an hour because they were both bored. But we saw Over the Hedge last weekend and all three of us enjoyed it quite a bit, so hopefully you'll like it too!

I really liked Over the Hedge, probably the best kids movie since Nemo and maybe even better than that. Hammy alone is worth the price of admission. Hee hee. I laugh just typing Hammy. Hammy, Hammy, Hammy, Hammy. And William Shatner, really playing himself in a mocking sort of way. Brilliant. Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara together again. I could go on and on and on. Great ending. Not sappy sappy sappy make me want to gouge out my eyes sweet.

But I want the cookie.

Over the Hedge is wonderful. You won't be disappointed at all.

Oh, I totally agree with you about The Wild. I rented it a few weeks ago, then turned to the kids after 5 minutes and said "This is *totally* a Madagaskar rip-off!"

Jazzy girl thought the animation was better in The Wild, but we all agreed it was a rip off. And no Penguins! The penguins *made* the other movie. I thought they were the best part!

Cow movie. Repressing!!

I did not see it, but the children came home ranting about how fabulous Over The Hedge was. And Shatner? Honey, you *know* that a movie that has Shatner making fun of his famous over-acting has *got* to be funny.
