Need help writing a letter...

Help?
Some of you guys know that I am a member of an association called Writers Ink. We award the Daniil Pashkoff Prize for Creative Writing in English for Non-Native Speakers.
Unfortunately, handing out awards is expensive. We are looking for new sponsors, not local ones, but international sponsors. We already have a few adresses in mind, but we're having trouble writing a letter that hits the right note. Have any of you guys ever written such a letter - a successful one? Our first draft sound horribly awkward. It would help to have a good example...
It doesn't help that my English is getting rustier and rustier. *sigh*
Thanks in advance!

Well, there's this which has some pretty good tips IMO.

I found a link on this

Here (http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Letter-Asking-for-Sponsorship-of-an-Event-from-a-Company)

Obviously it would need to be suitably tailored. I would also suggest contacting an international writers organisation like International Pen (http://www.internationalpen.org.uk). You never know, they might be interested, or able to point you in the direction of potential sponsors.

Good luck :o)
