The last Airbender

Has anyone seen tbis movie? Is it any good? How are the 3D effects? I often disagree with published reviews - and I often disagree with mainstream movie taste, that's why I'm asking you guys.
The trailers looked good, but is the story okay? I don't know the anime series and I don't care whether Asians are only cast as bad guys (I believe there was a heated discussion going on). I just want to know if it's an enjoyable movie with a half-decent script and suited for family viewing.
I enjoyed the Vampire's Apprentice but thought that Percy Jackson was rubbish. (Just to give you an idea what kind of movies I enjoy).-

I'd intended to see it, despite the controversy... but then the reviews were uniformly bad and I managed to see a few whole scenes online and, well, the rest of the movie would have to be about a thousand times better for me to be able to sit through it all. Those scenes? Were HORRIBLE. I've seen fan films made by college students that had better acting and better dialogue. *shudder*

It's pretty bad. However, I highly recommend the anime series - it's fantastically good, very kid friendly and thoughtful in an awesome way.

Yeah, I read bad things, too, but some of my favourite films received horrible reviews, so I don't always believe what the press says. Haven't spoken to anyone who actually saw it...

Oh well, maybe we'll watch something else. I'm looking for a nice movie to watch in Friday with the family...

Thanks. :-) I heard a lot of good stuff about the anime series - maybe I should get it on DVD. We ended our Buffy viewing at the end of S5, and now we have no series to watch together... (Supernatural is a solo pleasure)

Oh what a shame. Because the few sequences I saw looked colourful and pretty, and the little boy moves very gracefully... I always want Fantasy movies to succeed. I wonder why most Fantasy movies turn out so crappy. Let's hope that the series A Game of Thrones will turn out well.
*sigh*
I guess I'll have to find something else to watch on Friday.

You're the second to recommend the series. I wonder whether it's available in German...
Pretty bad, huh? Crap. When I saw the trailers I crossed my fingers and hoped for a decent fantasy movie, but it seems the genre is cursed. Only one in ten fantasy movies is any good...
