Jim Butcher

Just found this interview with Jim Butcher, the author of the Harry Dresden series.

He seems like a really nice guy. It seems that the second book of the series will be read by James Marsters again. So now I'm hoping the audiobook will be available at Vulkon - that would save me postage and duty. I liked Storm Front a lot. JM really has a nice reading voice.

Hm... Will Smith of James Marsters? Tough choice, as I think they'd both be charming. But I'll go with JM, celebrity loyalty and all.

Just to add, when I think about that it's cool that he has those two people in mind, because so many movies are written with the pre-set assumption that the character will be white or black and that affects the casting... it's cool if he imagines his own character could be played either way. Though, I haven't read the books, so I imagine he does describe the character one way or another.

Outwardly, the character of Harry Dresden is white but more dark than say Spike, but he does wear a duster and he has a hard boiled detective voice. I thought JM did a really good job and he will now forever be the one I see when thinking of Harry.
Harry's looks aren't described in great detail because as the hero he's supposed to be a canvas on which the reader can project himself, so I don't think Harry's hair-color is of any great importance to Jim Butcher. I think the vibe is more important and I think JM would be the perfect actor to play Harry. *Sigh*
