Is there a new Angel today? And what happened to Smallville? It seems like absolute ages since I saw the last one. *Drums fingers impatiently on desk.*

John Doe continues to be predictable. Why, oh why do I bother?

A few days ago, I watched a handful of relatively recent Enterprise episodes while folding my laundry. They weren't really bad, they just weren't good either. A bit on the boring side. Apparently, William Shatner said that Rick Berman should take his hat and leave the Star Trek universe to other people. It seems the show will get a face-lift and the Enterprise will move soon into uncharted space.

Another interesting thing I read is this: According to a German magazine SMG is quite prepared to make guest appearances on Angel or on a potential spin-off series. *Shrug*

I watched Alias 1x08 last night, obviously I'm way behind. Does it make me a bad person if my interest for the reporter and Sid's CIA handler is zero? The only character I'm really interested in is her Dad. I wonder how long they are going to play that 'is he a KGB mole or isn't he' card. Also, with all the fancy inventions SD-6 is investigating, this feels very fantasy-ish. I think I would have preferred something a little less Bond and a little more Len Deighton.

With Buffy drawing to an end I wouldn't mind something else to obsess about. Recommendations, anyone?

If you figure out why you bother with John Doe, let me know, cuz I can't seem to stop watching it either. At this point, I laugh at it mostly. Why is it that good shows get cancelled and stuff like JD continues?

I really enjoy Alias, but I grew up watching Bond and love gadgets and spygames. I'm surprised that Will and Vaughn do nothing for you, but Clark does little for me, so I understand being in the minority on these things. And really, I'm all about Sark (has he shown up yet for you?). Jack is definitely an interesting character, and they give him more depth in S2, which I'm appreciating.

I'm currently pimping Everwood, Without a Trace, and Fastlane, tho none of them make a great Buffy replacement.

Fastlane is like watching an hour-long music video - attractive people, fast cars, undercover cops. Tons of objectification and violence, nothing socially redeeming about it, but it's extremely gay and lots of fun.

Without a Trace is about the FBI's Missing Persons Dept, again with the pretty people, but this has plot and character development. They tackle interesting issues - they did one on a suspected terrorist which amazed me for how not toeing the party line it was.

Everwood is the story of a father and 2 kids who move from NYC to Everwood, Colorado (essentially the middle of nowhere) after the mom is killed. The father was a world-famous brain surgeon, so he's learning how to be a dad and human being. The son is bitter about moving out of NYC, doesn't fit in, has a crush on Amy. Amy's boyfriend Colin starts off the show in a coma. Amy's dad was the only doctor in town, so there's conflict between him and the new doc. And so on - there's a pile of characters, all of whom are interesting. They're still trying to figure out how to juggle them all, but it's a strong S1 I think. Plus there's actual mentions of Judaism, which is exciting (tho overall there's a bit more religion that I'd personally like). Anyway, this is the show that I have hopes will build over time, assuming the WB doesn't fuck it up.

And because I'm in love with Aaron Sorkin, I have to recommend The West Wing, even tho I haven't seen it in more than a year (I no longer get the network which shows it). His dialog and pacing are totally fun to watch/see.

John Doe - well, I kinda like the Profiler-genre and I like Digger. But I do realize that's no real excuse for such an abberation of taste.

Alias - No Sark, as far as I can tell. I don't watch Alias often, only when I get desperately bored.

Thanks for the detailed recommendations. I will try to download the pilot episodes of these to find out if they're up my ally.
