RL update and TV stuff

Spiegel.de writes about Lost.
The weather today was wonderful. I was the perfect mom. I even wrote a bit, pushing my Spike/Ethan fic to 2400 words. Yay me.

I just watched the pilot for Eyes. Can't decide if I like it or not. Am downloading the new Kojak - unless you all tell me not to bother. Is anybody else watching Blind Justice? It's got potential, I think. The acting seems decent enough, the cast is pleasant to look at. I always liked stories/movies about blind characters. I wonder why. Top of the list: Rutger Hauer in Blind Fury, Daredevil, and Audrey Hepburn in Wait until Dark.

What did you think about Lost then? I thought it was pretty cool, went in some unusual directions, direction and camera work was okay. Seems to me (although after an hour its a little early to be sure) that this is a mini-docu-soap on American culture. All the main players seem to be there; teen pregnancy, gun culture, drug and alcohol abuse, alienated cultures in the shape of an ex-Iraqi soldier and a couple from Korea who can't speak the language. Even single parents and obesity made a showing.

Nice touch at the end where they heard a scary message on the radio and it was from.... The French... :)

I will watch this again next week to see where the writers take it. At the moment they are heading towards a mix of character/culture clashes and spooky monster in the dark stuff...

Oh, I have watched Lost up to episode 19.
There are indeed soapy elements, but for me it's mostly a character-driven mystery series. All the characters have more to them than meets the eye. Yes, there are the clichés you mention in the line up, but everything will be undermined.

Definitely worth watching.

I'd hate having to watch this in German - with commercials in between.

Not so much Clichés here as a macrocosom of America. All on one beach :-)

And commercials suck on german TV. Have you tried watching band of brothers? 1st advert comes about 10 minutes after the start... Bah!
