Toyah update

Hi guys, thank you so much for your prayers and kind words and all the good vibes you've sent to us. All your good wishes appear to have helped, because once Viktoria was in hospital care, she improved quickly. (I hope it's okay if I don't answer individually, I don't have a lot of time right now...)
Anyway, here's the full story:
On Monday Viktoria had started throwing up, she couldn't even keep water inside, on Tuesday she stopped throwing up, but she refused food and drink, and she had a high fever so we took her to the family GP who wrote us a prescription for the local children's hospital. At the hospital the doctors immideately put her on a glucose and natrium mix, feeding her intravenously, because she was dehydrated and burning up her fat reserves. I stayed in hospital with Toyah, helping her go to the toilet and cuddling her whenever necessary. At first she was weak like a kitten and a little delirious, but the IV helped quickly. Today she complained about the food and she was taken off the IV. She is eating pasta again and drinking water. She likes the nurses and is brave whenever they draw blood for testing (the kids get a little prezzie, like a ring or toy bracelet for each prick of the needle).

Tonight I'm sleeping at home again, but I'm going back to the hospital tomorrow. If everything goes well, she'll be realeased tomorrow or on Saturday. Toyah didn't mind when I left, she was quite happily watching television.
The past two nights were stressful, frequently interrupted by complicated maneuvers (picture moving a small child together with her bulky IV contraption to the toilet at 4 am and you know what I mean). I am happy to be at home and to be drinking one of hubby's marvellous lattes.
In a minute I'll grab the eldest daughter, wash her hair and snuggle with her, since she feels woefully neglected.

Did I miss a lot?

ETA: I forgot to mention the final diagnosis: Toyah got hit by the Rota Virus, apparently it's very common and most people don't suffer while they have it. Toyah was just unlucky because it hit her so hard.

Thanks for the update E. Glad to hear that little Toyah is making a swift recovery. I suspect that she was laid so low by this virus because she never completely recovered from the one that struck before Christmas. (I'm still suffering the after effects of that one myself).

Poor little mite, what with the virus(es) and the head lice and now dangerous nurses with needles - life hasn't been kind to any of you lately.

*thwacks the Powers* Play nice or I'll set my boat crew on you

*nods vigorously*
Yeah, the poor thing has been sick so often, it's unsettling. Believe it or not, she also had worms just before Easter. I'm thinking the daycare hygiene standards must have declined...
Toyah herself seems impressed by the amount of afflictions that hit her lately. She's getting better at remembering to wash her hands and she's seriously considering eating more veggies to stay healthy.

*crosses fingers*

I also found out tonight, as I went through my emails, that my father's health, which had improved for a while, is now failing again. He was at his home for a while, with only brief stops at the nursing home, but now he's moved to the nursing home for good, it seems. *sigh*

I should really phone him tonight, but that means staying up till 2 am. And I'm feeling pretty exhausted...
Maybe tomorrow night.
