This and that - plus a question about other fandoms

Just came back from the judging panel for the local creative writing prize. Wow, that was a tough one. Well, I did my best for king and country, um...
RL seems to conspire to keep me from writing. Well, at least the Friendship Ficathon is running smoothly (several 'official' delays where the authors assured me they are working on their stories, and only very few unaccounted authors). For the next week or so, I'll put the link to the Master list into each of my posts, and on Friday I will repost the whole list, so that people have another chance/incentive to check out stories they may have missed earlier.

I haven't been able to read more than three stories, because now that I'm no longer utterly depressed all the time, I am making an effort to run my household and family smoothly and kindly. Which means spending more time on cooking and cleaning and amusing the children. Bah. Also, the garden needs a lot of work.

I also have to prepare the creative writing workshop that I'm holding next week. *wibble*

I mentioned before that my ex-lecturer asked me to come to one of his seminars and give a Fanfic 101 lecture. I decided I'd like to use movie clips from virtual seasons. I have seen the Three Deep one and may use it, but I'm wondering what other fandoms have spawned virtual seasons, and are there any clips from those projects? Star Trek? I only know the Jossverse fandom, but I'd like to be able to briefly mention other fandoms... Help would be appreciated.

I do of course intend to quote Joss extensively. Is there something like a Jossquote database somewhere?

BTW, my usual monthly LJ summary will have to wait. I really want to spend a few hours writing instead of cutting and pasting links. ;-)

I'm not reading it, but some people are doing an alternate Season 4 of Smallville. You can find it here - http://www.lexsara.lunarpages.com/fourpointone/main.htm

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. :-)

Steffi, there was a post just today on Whedonesque.com about a fan-produced movie in the Star Wars fandom that -- this reviewer said -- was better than what Geo Lucas is putting out. He talks a lot about how much fans can do now with computer technology. Perhaps this would be helpful?

Would that be Revelations? I think I heard about that one but I haven't seen it yet. Yes that's helpful. Thanks. :-)

I haven't been following at all lately, but this X-Files (http://www.virtualseasonx.com/) virtual season is gearing up for it's fifth season! (started after S7, ie, at the start of the Mulder-lite era.) Trailers, etc, available.

Oh goody. Thank you so much!

There are at least two Star Trek Classic fan projects I know of. I have to check whether I can dig out the links at home after work. I have the episodes on CD, I guess somewhere in the credits I will find them.

Ah, ok, thanks.
I'd like to include them in the handout so yeah, the links would be useful. :-)

Phoenix virtual television
"This is the page where you can read your favorite virtual series of yore, those that completed their run. This means they lasted out the storm long enough to finish their planned arc from start to finish.

Because we wanted to give you the most accurate list possible, we are including EVERY (non-slash) concluded series we could possibly find. In many cases, these series are in no way affiliated with the PVT."

I know there are also slash seasons for some of the shows they list.

This is actually fiction based on a real life actor. Orlando Bloom.

Yeah, I know of the RPS phenomenon (even though I mostly stay away from it). But so far I am still researching virtual seasons. But thanks. :-)
