Spoilery Speculation on S7 - Part 2

Vampinocchio just grew donkey's ears and a tail...

Part 1 of my S7 speculation is here.

In part one of my speculation I went on about the Pinocchio arc that Spike is experiencing this season.
To my speculation that FE's torture sessions were meant to be seen as the equivaltent of the Pleasure Island sequence [livejournal.com profile] elfgirl replied that that was yet to come. She's right. Vampinocchio has just grown donkey's ears and a tail and all the fans squeal with happiness.

Bollocks, I say. The Spike we saw in "Get it Done"? Don't grow too attached. As usual Spike tries to be what Buffy wants him to be. Turning back into the animal is not the way - which Buffy already knows on some level, because for herself she refused additional power at the expense of her humanity. You don't really think that reverting to old!Spike doesn't come with a price?

Other Stuff...

I wouldn't be surprised if in the grand showdown Dawn acts as battery for Willow. Dawn was absent when Willow tapped into the nearest power source. I haven't forgotten that Dawn is a key - I don't think the guys from ME have forgotten, either.

Can we envision a season ending where Dawn is fully human, Willow bereft of her powers and Buffy normal and fully human without her Slayer powers? Maybe with a human Spike. I can. It might come anti-climactic, but only if the powers go away shortly before the showdown and the gang kicks ass regardless.
There have been many episodes/events dealing with loss of power: The Cruciamentum episode, Riley's operation, Spike's dual 'castration,' Angel's ensoulement, Willow's magic arc, Anya's two cases of losing her demon status. Clearly this is all going to come to fruition at the end of the season?

Do we remember the big Showdown at the end of S3? Where all the students fought for their lives. They were part of the fight - some died, but they didn't just stand there waiting for a champion to do the job.

This season's lesson: Don't ask what the Slayer can do for you, ask what you can do for your Slayer? Not quite, but it's clearly about joint effort, about marshalling one's forces, about standing tall together. Not a bad concept as such.

Togetherness is a recurring theme on the show, the Scoobies were usually most succesful when working together.

These themes are ME's primary concerns I think, so I wouldn't expect great romance in the next few episodes.

As for the fast forward/walk-through concerning previous seasons: was Get it Done more a revisiting of Restless or was this already Intervention V.2?

In my other post I said that the revisiting has reached S5, but after the flashcard pictures รก la Hush I think we may still be in S4. Which would make Get it Done the 'baby episode' of Restless and Buffy vs Dracula. :-)
That could mean that 'key' issues will be addressed soon. And hopefully Family issues too. S5 was the season in which the Scoobies made Tara and Dawn part of the family. In which they were a tightly knit group - only Spike was on the outside of that group. Maybe with the revisiting of S5 we will get more Scooby cohesion now. About time, too.

::hands over ears:: La, la, la, I'm not listening.

::sigh:: Couldn't let me just enjoy the moment, could you? Yeah, I know, it really tugs at my heart that he has no freaking internal validation. Tries so hard for his woman - this was an echo of his words to Drusilla in "Fool For Love": "I did it for you."
