Downton Abbey

I just stumbled over Downton Abbey and LOOOOVE it! Takes me back to the days when I'd religiously watch Upstairs Downstairs when it first aired in Germany in 1975. I was 12 then, and really loved the show.
*sighs happily*
I also found out that there's a new Jane Eyre movie in the pipeline with the memorable Michael Fassbender as Rochester. Sounds extremely promising. *is happy*
Raise your hand if you're also a fan of period shows/movies!
What's your favourite period show moment?

I love all the Donald Sutherland scenes in Pride and Prejudice.
And Margaret Rutherford in the b/w Lawrence Olivier Pride and Prejudice.
And every single scene with Alan Rickman in Sense and Sensibility.

I liked Lost in Austen. It was very playful and fun (and I quite like the woman who played Amanda). I've seen every Anglo-American Jane Austen adaptation since 1971 inc. the awful awful Mormon updating of Pride and Prejudice. It was badness. I keep meaning to watch the Bollywood/India ones too although they're not period pieces but updatings. And yet I keep putting it off too, inc Bride and Prejudice.

I have seen Secret Garden and Little Princess, admittedly not recently, but I haven't seen Little Lord Fauntleroy. I might seek it out.

I really enjoy Agatha Christie adaptations. I do like Sherlock Holmes but I'm more likely to choose the Marple and then the Poirot over Sherlock if they were on TV. :) I'm not sure about the new Marples though. :S
