sunday100-challenge: Silver
#1 - Bucharest 1898
"Let's see how good you are." Leaning against her gentleman escort with a familiarity that bordered on scandalous, the blonde giorgio lady pulled off her left glove.
"Cross my palm with silver, M'lady," Andreta Kalderash said.
The tall gentleman handed her a coin, and Andreta took the proffered hand. It was deathly cool. That's when Andreta knew the woman was prikaza - bad luck.
But she'd taken her silver….
"I see many travels. When you die it will be far from here, by the hand of one you love, but--"
"Liar!" the woman hissed.
That's when Andreta knew she should have lied.
AN: giorgio = roma for 'non-roma'; prikaza = roma for 'bad luck.' Actually, there really is a Kalderash tribe. Apparently the word means 'coppersmith.' :-)
#2 - Suave
It's beautiful. Real silver not some cheap imitation. And it's magical too. He wonders briefly if maybe the metal got bathed in the blood of virgins but the thought is too creepy to contemplate, even for an arch villain like him. No, it was probably enchanted in a really cool ritual, with thirteen naked witches having a wild orgy inside a big glow-y pentagram.
"Can you do it? You have to do it directly on top of the seal."
Andrew nods, feeling like James Bond during a briefing, except that this isn't Q but Warren.
