estepheia: (It's only a movie...)
There are three films which we watch every year when Christmas approaches:
Little Lord Fauntleroy - with Sir Alec Guiness at his grumpiest, schmoopy but great.
Ground Hog Day - with a grumpy Bill Murray (best scene: when after driving like a maniac he gets stopped by the police, he rolls down his window and orders three cheesburgers with fries....)
Scrooged - with Bill Murray - hasn't aged gracefully, but it still has it's moments: when Murray gets a toaster slammed into his face or the hilarious commercial for his show, or the opening scene of the movie where Santa's elves brandish machine guns...

Do you have movies that you associate with Christmas? Or New Year's Eve?

Many Germans watch a short black and white program called Dinner For One every New Year's Eve. It's traditional, even though it's in English. It's a little comedy about an old lady called Miss Sophie, who celebrates her 80th birthday by having a dinner party with her four best friends. Unfortunately the dear old friends all passed away decades ago and their roles are now played by the butler James. Hilarious.
estepheia: (We wish you a smashing Christmas!)
Okay, the kids are in church, the prezzies are displayed under the tree. I will now make dips for tonight's raclette/fondue dinner.
I tried to find the time to write, but the family took precedence, so the last two chapters of our Advent fic will come out at a slightly later date. Sorry. But I guess most of you don't have the time to read anyway.

I would like to wish everybody, but especially all my friends, whether they are LJ friends or RL friends a Merry Christmas, lots of prezzies, nice footrubs, nice meals, good family vibes, great rumpy pumpy (if you're inclined) and a hangover-free party. And I hope that all the moms among you guys will have a good time, even if it's quite demanding and stressful to prepare everything. A big *hug* to all stressed moms out there!

Extra smoochies go to [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 who has become a really wonderful friend over the past twelve months. I feel like I've known her forever. (*resolves to look up the date when our collaboration started*). Have a good trip, sweetie!
