It's amazing how quickly not-writing because you don't have the time turns into not-writing because you can't. Waaah. I had a lovely metaphor for a Fanged Four story in my head, and a lovely image for a bit of Spike/Angel/Dru, but alas, I could't get either to work. So In order to get back into writing I dug out one of my WIPs today, namely Cats and Dogs.
*pokes story with stick*

Okay, so far my attempts to find out how dog meat used to be served in China have not met with any success. I found several sites dealing with recipes devoted to feeding dogs rather than eating them. And a gross recipe for something called dog sushi. Eeek. And no, I don't intend to serve stir fried chow chow to my guests. This is pure fanfic research. But if anyone knows what dog tastes like, feel free to tell me.
My great-uncle ate rat once, when he was a POW in Sumatra and claimed it tasted like chicken. My dad had snake in Hongkong and swears it tastes like... yeah, you guessed it, chicken. Especially when it's turned into soup. Apparently it's good against the common cold. And I have eaten frog legs (yummie) and yes, they tasted like very juicy and tender chicken.
According to a few books I've read dog meat was a delicacy among Plains Indians (American Natives) and very fat meat. Hmmm.
That's one thing I like about writing: you start researching the strangest things. What's the weirdest thing you ever researched for your writing? Come on, people. Share!
