As usual I'm the last to know. In a way I'm glad I didn't check my emails first thing in the morning but went shopping with little one to buy a carneval costume (she makes me proud because her first choice of 'Princess' got ditched when she saw a plastic sword. She will now go as a knight. That's my girl!). That way I could be oblivious a little while longer.
So I come home and find out that AtS got the axe and though I'm a pretty un-sentimental person I find myself tearing up. I'll miss the show, but mostly I'll miss the fandom. I don't care about RPS with Dom and Billy, don't care about LotR fic in any shape or size, don't want to move on to be a PotC fan. Smallville isn't an option either.
I have no problems writing and reading about the characters, once the show is cancelled, on the contrary, I won't get jossed, but writing for a void, when all the other fans move on?
I have read lots of LJ comments but can't bring myself to comment. I can't even bring myself to be angry at WB. They are a business with shareholders. If the advertisers don't like a transgressive show like Angel, well, then I can see why WB gives it the axe. Whether they gave notice because they wanted Joss to be able to wrap things up or whether the info leaked out, that doesn't really matter. ME has a chance to wrap a few things up. I hope they don't get SMG but I would love guest spots from Eliza, Alison and Nicky. And this time they should not fucking dare to kill my favorite characters! But if they do, well, I WILL RESURRECT THEM IN FIC!
Anyway, my Saturday is ruined, no doubt yours, my friends, is ruined too.
I have spent years relying on my regular Whedon-fix. I have enjoyed many other shows but never as much as Whedon's shows. Let's just hope that Joss will get his Firefly movie under way and that he'll create another successful series afterwards. *sigh*
