Maybe there is such a thing as karma. In any case, several good things happened today - and they couldn't have happened at a more timely moment:
There were two parcels in the mail today, whoohooo! Parcels with English children's books from
janedavitt and
_aayesha_, answering my plea for picture books and text books for my little English class who are slowly but surely learning to read in English now. Whoohoo! Thank you ever so much, Jane and Michelle, for your generosity. Some of these books are actually suitable for my 12-year-old pupil too - which is great. The younger kids still need pictures to help jog their memories, so the Disney books are great. *hug* Thank you so much!
The other good thing today? I always get paid in advance for the private lessons I give to the 12-year-old. She comes twice a week for 60 mins each. I'll only teach her for half a month in July because she's going to England on holiday, but her mother paid for the whole month, she called it holiday pay. That's money I didn't expect to have. Yay!
The timing was of course impeccable, since I was feeling utterly depressed (and angry) yesterday. I am glad I have such good LJ friends because their encouragement staved off the brunt of it.
I phoned my dad last night at the nursing home and he sounded genuinely pleased to talk to me. We talked about 10 minutes -- about dogs and his dog in particular, but hey, we talked.
Will do my morning pages now (which I should have done - duh! - this morning). If I manage to finish my handout for tomorrow's workshop on short types of prose before 7, then maybe I can vroom off later and watch the new Batman or War of the Worlds or both (alas, both are dubbed, yeech!)...
I love my LJ and my LJ friends. *HUG HUG HUG*
