Writing, Christmas, nano...
Dec. 2nd, 2005 09:39 amHappy Birthday,
shadowscast! I hope people will shower you with fic. :-)
My nano stuttered to a halt at 26.671 - which is a good deal short of the 30.000 I was realistically aiming for, but still not a bad achievement. Well, RL tripped me up, but at least I got the opening chapters of my novel done. I am taking a breather this month because there are too many other chores that are Xmas and birthday related. In January I will return to a rigorous writing schedule and work on the novel some more. Throughout December I will only write if the mood strikes me and if and when I find the time. I have to get back to my sooper sekrit project which has lain dormant for over a month. But I'd also like to write a bit of fanfic. Maybe a few drabbles. Drop me a character or pairing and a prompt, if you like. Mind you, I'm not promising anything, only that I'll try to give it a shot.
This decision makes my life a lot less stressful. By setting myself goals that are doable I am trying to fend off failure and feelings of inadequacy which would only feed my depression - the depression that I've managed to keep at bay so far. Yay me. It also gives me an opportunity to make up for neglecting the kids during November. Today I'll take them to the Christmas fair. And I'll put up more Christmas decorations and tidy up a little. It feels really weird not having to write 1000 words a day, good for a change, because it's a completely different feeling not having to do everything in a hurry so that you can go back to your writing...
If you haven't read Ladycat and my Christmas Advent Calendar Fic yet, the one we wrote for 2003, maybe it's a good opportunity to start now. You can find it here. Or maybe you'd just like to reread it to get into a festive mood. :-)
