Even Spiegel.de has an article about Boldthrough.
*sigh*
I remember when fanfiction.net banned NC17 fics. I felt bereft. I had come to cherish the fact that there was a central fanfic adress. It's true, not all stories were great or tasteful, but it was our sandbox. For me, Livejounal took FFNet's place as a central adress for all things fandom: message board and fanfic archive all rolled into one, with all sorts of extra bonusses like lots of icons. A shiny toy. But now it feels like we're again compelled to pack our things and move elsewhere.
And then? If we move to another blog provider, what are the chances that once the new provider has made enough money from "exodusing" fans they will sell the whole shebang and (in order to appease potential advertisers) ban the very activities that had so many people flee to their site?
I am so used to having stories and images at my fingertips. The thought of sites and LJs disappearing without a trace pains me. There are so many stories that I may want to reread and others that I haven't found yet... I never download them, I do all my reading online. I really have to think about downloading and archiving my favorite stories.
Sod this!
