estepheia: (Ethan with beard)
My Ethan-ficathon story finally continues...
Only a very short update today, more a teaser than an actual chapter, but I wanted to let you know that I haven't abandoned this story, even if I posted a Spander fic yesterday.... Anyway, the next chapter is almost finished. If only I could stop tinkering... Hee.

Remember how I told you guys about my new job? That was in December. My job is no longer new, but I still enjoy it very much. I type tons of data into SAP and I get to translate German product descriptions into English. The company I work for produces inventory labels, pipe identification markers and permalight signs. We also sell personal safety equipment, like heat-resistant gloves and whatnot. Anyway, today our company celebrated their 50th anniversary.

It was the BEST PARTY EVER!

All week the weather sucked, today it was perfect. The party took place in a number of connected tents that had been erected in one of Braunschweig's larger parks (normally the tents house cultural events, theatre and whatnot, but today our company owner had rented the whole thing). Food and drinks were free for all the company staff AND their families. What kind of food? BBQ'd lamb, turkey breast, pork, sausages, a fish buffet, popcorn, candyfloss, potato pancakes with smoked salmon, fried noodles, French fries, salads, suckling pig with sauerkraut, a huge dessert buffet... Simply amazing. And really excellent quality. Plus ALL the drinks were free (although I only had non-alcoholic drinks except for a small glass of Bailey's). And there was entertainment for the children, even the local circus school had been hired. All afternoon a fire-eater with his assistent and a hugy python entertained the guests. A magician performed tricks.... All this outside, among beautiful trees.

When Mr. Kroschke, the owner of our company talked to us and said that the success of his business is built on the quality and enthusiasm of his emplyees, he got standing ovations. (Seriously, the world needs more people like him.)

Afterwards there was a terrific vaudeville program with a great juggler and a fantastic ventriloquist. Dance musik. And finally? The best fireworks ever. To the music of PotC.  And everything was FREE!

The kids were well-behaved and happy, and the colleagues were fun to talk to.

This is my definition of a perfect day. *is happy*
