Did you know that a skilled archer can fire an arrow every 10 seconds? Apparently, Peter Jackson didn't.
The Two Towers was on the whole enjoyable. Great sets, wonderful costumes, cood cast, beautiful landscape. But the battle of Helm's deep didn't cut it. Not if you know a thing or two about warfare.
The fortress should have had catapults and other long range weapons. Also, the defenders should have poured molten lead, hot oil or even just hot water on the orcs that climbed the ramparts, and they should have had long sticks to push back the ladders. Also, the archers (especially the elves) should have been able to get more than just two or three volleys in before the attackers reached the walls. They had no reason to save arrows for later. You fire and you fire. Ideally the second arrow is in the arrow before the first finds its mark. I can't help it, these kinds of inaccuracies irk me.
Oh, and blinded or no, the orcs should have made shish-kabob out of the attacking cavalry. Their pole-arms should have been highly effective. You don't send cavalry against armored foot in close formation, you use it to pick off the skirmishers.
All in all, the battle was nicely done (and Gimli rocked), but these inaccuracies were just darn annoying.
*Sigh* The secret slasha is driving me nuts.
And watching Saving Grace with one eye doesn't help. Man, those Brits make the funniest comedies. Ever. Absolutely brilliant!
