Oh, you have to watch In the Bleak Midwinter. It starts off with an actor looking at the viewer saying something like: "You know how doctors say that nervous breakdown can either happen really fast or really slowly? Well, mine started at 7 months, and now that I'm 33 it's finally gotten a grip." But the way the line is delivered... priceless. And when a male actor auditions for Gertrude (they put on a production of Hamlet), promising to bring his own tits, by that time one is already howling with laughter. Very very cute.
And yeah, I think Branagh is a bit of an egomaniac. I still love his Hamlet adaptation for various reasons, but boy it was long. One hour less wouldn't have hurt. Oh well, one has to be thankful for the good stuff.
