I just found out there's a Thank you, James Ad Campaign - a fund raising campaign that will put an ad into the national editon of Variety magazine. The excess (already almost $2000) will go to charity.
Nice. I doubt that the ad will bring us a Spike-spin-off, but one never knows. Personally, if I were ME I wouldn't want to use too many characters from BtVS. The familiarity and having a crowd puller or two is all good and well, but having to maintain continuity with 7 preceeding Seasons of television (not to mention Angel) is a tough job.

From what I remember JM and JW had a bit of an argument over James's contract (read: money) prior to season 6. I read somewhere that Joss rewards professionalism and loyalty. That might just mean that Joss won't try very hard to hire JM for other projects.

My best case scenario would be: Connor, Gunn and Fred drop dead, Lilah haunts the Hyperion as resident ghost (her chance to redeem herself), Spike joins Angel Investigation. Mmmmm. Cordy ascends again, this time for real and forever, and the woman who played Zoe on Firefly plays the new female lead. - yeah yeah, I know. Not gonna happen.

I think JM is probably the BtVS cast member who's the most loyal to JW. At the Seattle con, JM said that JW promised him that he will be in any spin-off he develops. And he talked about spending lots of time over at JW's house. So unless they have a subsequent falling out, I'm sure we'll see Spike again if there's a spin-off.
