Hmmm, I thought I could get away with the harsh beginning because in the context of the series Xander is no abuser and Spike is not looking for abuse. Spike is looking for contact, physical and emotional but because of what happened with Buffy and because of his soul he will not make the first move. Xander may get off on having control for a change, may even experiment with it, but he needs validation through reciprocation.
I'm glad you're honest with your criticism, Saussy. Don't worry, I'm not that thin-skinned. Please, how can I improve if you guys don't tell me where I go wrong. I may fine-tune the opening paragraph a bit. Or I may not. But I'll definitely think about it. I was deliberately playing a bit with d/s buttons without going all the way (not my kink, you see).
