It's 7.20 pm and all I've done today is real life stuff. Tidied up, threw old receipts away, bought groceries, made a very nice lunch (Italian antipasti and then Spaghetti), entertained my best friend (who gave me a good tip what kind of prezzie to take to the states), and then typed about 40 articles into ebay. I'm selling RPG-magazines from 1986-1996.
I feel very virtuous and accomplished now. My friend made brilliant scones for our tea, so I'm also well fed. A bit too well-fed, if you ask me.
I haven't written a single word today. That's never a good thing. As soon as the kids are in bed I will try to get back to my stories.
A question to vidders and knowledgeable people: My Real Player won't play the Buffy vids I downloaded and it crashes other applications. Is there a way to convert .rm-files or .ram-files into other formats? I like .avi and .wmv. I can burn VCDs out of .wmv's... oh, and what's the difference between .rm and .ram?
I am soooo ignorant.
ETA: I almost forgot: Happy birthday

There was once a raging war going on between Real One Player and all the Videos out there. You see, some of the Videos, when they were born, were saved as an AVI file. Well Real One Player is very snooty and looks down upon AVI files and says, "you are not worthy."
The God of all that is technical sees this growing conflict and says, "This is not good." So he bringeth forth the Codec, a program designed to bring peace and harmony between the Real One and the Videos.
He then scatters the Codecs in downloadable form across the internet and says, "Let there now be peace."
So, all you really have to do is download a good Codec (yes, unfortunately there are more than one kind) and you will be watching AVI files to your hearts content.
go to this site....
http://www.divx.com/divx/
This is the DivX Codec. As you scroll down you will see three Divx Codecs available. Just select the first one (it iss basic, but should be all you need) by clicking in the little circle below it. Then click the download button. Save it to your computer. then you are done!
The cool part is that it is an .EXE file, which means that once you download it, it will take care of itself and you shouldn't have to fiddle with it.
And don't worry, this is the official DivX site, so there is no worries about getting a crappy product.

Magarettt again:
I found the above to be extremely helpful in vid viewing. After downloading a codec, you just go back to Real One player and tell it to play your vid -- and it will! No knowledge necessary, which was great for me. :) Good luck -- if something doesn't work, post again/e-mail me and I'll go find something else.
This is your "Hey, new friend!" from me: I adore your fic and your loveliness to the wonderful

:-(
All these different formats are quite aggravating. I like my Windows Media Player - I just wish it would play .rm
But thanks a lot, anyway. And welcome to my livejournal.
I'm glad you enjoy my fanfic. Unfortunately, I haven't been very prolific lately. *wanders off to stare reproachfully at WIPs*
