Whoa! Two and a half hours without internet. Scary!

You'll probably all think I'm insane for saying this, but right now I am as happy as can be, just because I'm writing! Spandrew is so much fun. I'm not exactly moving at a brisk pace, but hey, I'm happy with the result. I just hope it will stand up to close scrutiny later. Spandrew.... mmmmm. And I haven't even gotten to the smut yet.
ETA: While I'm writing I'm occasionally glancing at my Tampa slideshow on our telly. Looks like some of my pictures came out nicely after all. YAY!!!!!!
(oh, btw, Tina is in summer camp till late in the afternoon and Toyah was at day care all morning, so I actually had three quiet hours all on my own. *happy sigh*

My first few Tampa Vulkon pics:

It takes too long to load, so I won't upload the rest for now...

ETA: Okay guys, I uploaded big files, almost half a MB each, so that will be bandwidth intense. My hubby will look into ways of hosting these either on a cheap server or he'll downsize them.
Personally I prefer large files, they are niceer to print out (if that's what you want), but for a quick look smaller versions should suffice.
Please do not broadcast the links all over the place before we've found a a better (i.e. cheaper) place to host them. If you read my LJ, even if you lurk, sure look at them, and you can tell a friend as well, but don't post on message boards. Yet. Okay?
Otherwise I'll have to friendslock this.

Fic recs

If you are not adverse to WIPs and like S/X that's plotty, check out Anywhen by Miki, a crossover with Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere.
I don't like crossovers, I'm not fond of fluff, I cringe when I read the word consort. So why do I like this fic? It's not even smutty. More romantic and plotty. It's great fun and it's colorful and it's off the beaten track. Thorougly charming.

One story that really made me go 'Gah' is [livejournal.com profile] piedmargaret's Snow in Summer, Spike/Wes, R, dark. Oh so dark and utterly sad. Set between S3 and S4 of Angel. Brilliant. Wonderful language. A story I would have liked to have written. No graphic smut, just geniune psychological pain. Perfect pitch.

I probably don't have to mention [livejournal.com profile] anniesj's and [livejournal.com profile] wiseacress's ongoing Spander sagas. I'm pretty sure everybody reads them already. But do you read [livejournal.com profile] yindagger's S/X series 'Shame the Devil', or the short S/X stories 'Hot' and 'Cold.' Or [livejournal.com profile] lovebitca's Spander Demon Daddy Daycare romp (with pure Disney overtones)? If not, maybe you should check out their ljs. :-)

Not Spander but very funny is [livejournal.com profile] mikelesq's The Metaphor Suffers, metafic with a bite.

Good stuff.
