estepheia: (Out for a walk. Bitch.)
[livejournal.com profile] abbylee gave me a plot bunny. [livejournal.com profile] abbylee is eeeevil.
Abbylee: I have a challenge for you. You're not going to want to accept it. I just read someone's comment, "I'd like to put Angel and the Buffybot in a room together and take bets on how long it takes them to find and successfully operate the doorknob."
and it makes me want to read a story!!!! how lame is that?

And this is feedback for my Spike-Oz story Take That Heat, which I found in my LJ this morning. The bunnies are rampant today.
I like this a lot but can you write one where the Dingoes open for Incubus and help a pretty blonde groupie hook up with Brandon? Cause my bff Amy has a major crush on Brandon and I'm trying to get her into BtVs fanfics so if I combine the two it might work. And then have Spike there hitting on the blonde's brunette friend(me) ;P. bye
I can only assume that Brandon is someone from Incubus....

A while back I wrote a drabble in which due to a spell Spike and Xander wake up as girls. I think that has all the trappings for a badfic spoof, but might even be fun as a plot-driven smut thingie.

And then I always wanted to write an amnesia story. S/X, of course. Although S/Wes might be fun too.

Plus I have a really cheesy bunny for an AU (which has probably been done already but who cares): English teacher William leads a double life as singer in a rock band. When his student Buffy sees his punk self he quickly invents a twin brother.... Cheesy? You betcha.

And then there's a story in which a spell turns Anya into a man.... and strangely enough she's the same as always. Only Xander is not amused... Set in S5 or S6.... (I think it could be extra funny if Anya actually had the spell done deliberately to 'surprise' Xander). The only thing wrong with this scenario is the conspicuous absence of Spike. But I guess that could be remedied. And yeah, I admit it, Spike/Anya/Xander is still my OT3, my One True Threesome.

The Spike/Fred story I promised [livejournal.com profile] kellyhk has been postponed till November, because I want to do a 'fill in the blanks' story about them, rather than something that gets jossed.

[livejournal.com profile] 10zlaine asked me for Buffy/Faith (yes I still remember), so I'm thinking post-Chosen maybe, future fic. I'd need to research Cleveland for that, which is why I haven't started on it yet.

The Willow/Giles story I am writing for [livejournal.com profile] chrisjournal consists of about 30 lines so far, but it's kicking my butt. Maybe it's because I have so many stories which are much closer to the finishing line.

[livejournal.com profile] demonmagnet, I still owe you an essay for that Angel icon. But I can't quite make up my mind, what to write about. Maybe if we do it like an exam? You give me two questions and I answer one of them? Give me too much freedom to choose and I never get anything done. And [livejournal.com profile] psychodragon82, I owe you something for the twirly icon too. Can we make it short? Like you give me a small challenge and I write a set of three 100-word drabbles for you? Is that ok?

As for WIPs (and someone should invent another name, something that goes with bunnies... wolves?): Cues and Balls is almost finished, Flight of Fancy (one of my personal favorites) is almost finished, Dealing is outlined (yes, I have plot) and I have written several scenes already, Perdition is still stucker than stuck, Nothing to Say - stuck (annyoingly so, because I know exactly how it ends, it's the getting there that's tricky). Oh and the last Survivors drabble? Still not working. Grrrr. Who'd have thunk Vi would be so recalcitrant. I almost forgot: There's also Sifting Through the Wreckage (my mental backstory got jossed by the destruction of Sunnydale) and The Crusader's Veil.

Shoot me now!

PS: If anyone wants to adopt one of the bunnies, feel free. I have plenty. :-)

ETA: And guess what I'm doing now? I'm going offline to work on my original novel outline. God, I feel so virtuous. LOL.

There used to be an LJ page where you could find out who friended and unfriended you when, but it hasn't worked for over two weeks now. Can anyone point me to a tool/site that will tell me? I'd like to keep track of the comings and goings. :-)

This made my day. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] mikelesq. *Estepheia squeals 'Yihaaa!' and dances through the living room.*

My outlining skills suck! I had set aside 3 hours today for outlining and I have nothing to show for it. That's rather disappointing.
I have many ideas for character interaction but my plotting skills are blah.
And there's one scene where I can't make up my mind who's perspective to use.

But mostly I need a clearer picture of the opposition and I have to introduce the complications sooner. *sigh*
The formula I want to use allocates a certain amount of space to the opposition. It also requires me to introduce the opposition within the first quarter of the book - which makes sense. Unfortunately I have no opposition that actively works against the heroine, she has other problems to overcome, like the need to fit into a new culture, her lack of funds, religious persecution, and other practical matters. And just when it looks like she's settling in I want her to accidentally make a powerful enemy. But that's supposed to happen towards the end of the first third.... At least that was the plan. And maybe that's too late. And it has nothing to do with my heroine's major quest - which is one of self-discovery. *glares at pile of section sheets*

Well, at least I called the editor who told me the word requirements.
My target number is 80.000 words.
