Go here and download the vids by [livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart. Especially My Jesus is very pretty. Mmmm, pretty Spike vid.

I also downloaded a vid recently by [livejournal.com profile] azdak called Boys, which features Spike/Angel, and which can be found here. Fun! (Unless you hated TGIQ)

Today a friend came by with a few pieces of plum cake. Mmmm. *smiles* Plum season always makes me nostalgic, because plum cake was always my birthday cake when my gran was still alive.

I plan to go and see I Robot today, in the original version. I hate dubbed movies.
estepheia: (Angel & Spike)
Like I always say, [livejournal.com profile] kita0610 has a sexy brain. Here she explains why she ships Angel/Spike. If you never understood what the Hoyay is all about, go read her essay. Or if you get it, read it anyway. :-)

I Robot

estepheia: (It's only a movie...)
After reading a friend's comment and a review at AICN I fully expected to like this and... I did. I Robot is a fine example that an action movie with lots of robots does not have to be dumb. The dialogue is snarky, Will Smith, who I never particularly liked, delivers his lines well and looks yummie, very very yummie. This followed all the rules about mythic storytelling. The hero is herioic, likeable, but hurt (both physically and psychologically), he bodily incorporates the theme of the mmovie, and he overcomes insurmoutable odds. He even gets a kind of sidekick, and we see the new evolved robot make the right choice where his predecessors failed. All in all a very well constructed story. Predictable if one is versed in storytelling but in a satisfying way.
I think that might be one for our DVD collection when it comes out. I have a soft spot for pretty Scifi movies. I adored Minority Report for similar reasons.
Anyway, it felt nice to go to the movies again. I should get out more. My driving skills are rusty and I am getting cabin fever.

pet peeve

Grrrr. If I read one more Spander fic that starts with an out of character Anya heartlessly leaving Xander, I'm going to hurl. I think I must have read this feeble intro a hundred times now and frankly, I'm sick sick sick of it. Who left whom at the altar? Who crushed whose white-picket-fence fantasies of domestic bliss? Don't tell me Anya has to leave in a huff so Spike and Xander can embark on an emotional journey of domestic bliss. Xander broke off with Anya because he was afraid of growing up and assuming adult responsibilities, afraid of getting stuck in a domestic life of recrimination and abuse, and he was worried that he was the one unfit for marriage.
Anya on the other hand, while opportunistic and often saying the wrong things, clearly has ethical standards, however weird. She was industriously trying to make a perfect home and life for them, economically comfortable too, and she clearly catered to Xander's sexual whims and fantasies.

I know, I know, I'm not saying anything new, but this is my LJ. I can air my peeves. I love Anya, she's a wonderful character. I wish people weren't too lazy to do her justice.
estepheia: (My fandom... (by Josesy))
A fandom fairy appears with her magic wand (looking a bit like Emmet in QAF, all glittery, sparkly and happiness spreading) and grants you three fandom-related wishes (and by fandom the fairy means wishes concerning vidders, writers and other fans).

What would you ask for? (Doesn't matter how outragous the wish is, you're talking to that Emmet-fairy, remember? Just a bit of wishful thinking, that's all.)

My own answers are behind the cut )
