Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] xanphibian. I wish you all the best!

In December I posted a Spike/Lorne friendship fic called Catching Up. Back then I said I probably wouldn't write more and set the story free for others to write a smutty continuation, if they wanted, but nobody did. Yesterday, the mood tickled me and I scribbled a few sentences into my notebook. Today I tinkered with them and here they are, just a smallish scene to tag on to the original story. I wouldn't rule out further slashy updates. I've given up trying to write the stories I feel I ought to write. When the muse shows up I don't reason why, I just go where she points.

This is frightfully short, sorry, but it's better than nothing. Right? [livejournal.com profile] xanphibian, [livejournal.com profile] eliade, this is for you.

Before I ramble on about movies and such, I have to thank a few people: [livejournal.com profile] wickedfox made a truly gorgeous banner for the Spike/Ethan site. As soon as it's up for viewing, I'll let you know. And [livejournal.com profile] sadbhyl and [livejournal.com profile] mydeira wrote Fraternal Bondage for me. Naughty bondage Spethan porn. Yay!!!! *bounces around* Yes, yes, yes! I always knew they go nicely together. Read the fic if you don't believe me. Naughty naughty.

Huh? I just had a strange huh moment. I could have sworn there was a scene in Peter's Friends where they all sing the Twelve Days of Chrismas. I just watched my crappy tape (thinking that the movie industry owes me a decent copy because the frigging tape has not aged well, and why should I have to cough up money twice for one movie?). Anyway, I watched my copy and the scene just wasn't there. I could have sworn that I have heard/seen Branagh sing the Twelve Days of Christmas. Where did the scene go? *scratches head* was it in another of his movies? But which one?

A RL friend visited today, the girl I'm (re-)watching all my Branagh movies with, and she's never seen any of them except for Dead Again (which we started our little habit with). I turned her into a fan. I'll intoduce her to In the Bleak Midwinter next. The casting sequence is utterly brilliant. I wish Branagh would make more movies of that kind, movies full of irony and wit and friendship. He really gets such great performances out of his actors and there was so much warmth and intelligence in his early works. Maybe one day I'll forgive him for the dullness that was Love's Labours Lost. *shudders*

From Branagh to Dr. Who is a bit of a leap, I suppose, but may I just say that I enjoyed the first 2 epis of this year's Dr. Who. I never got into any of the earlier series, but this looks like fun.

RL today was mostly sucky. The weather set us at each other's throats. The kids were cooped up inside while hubby was trying to work. He was uncharacteristically snappy and annoying, and my current backtrouble didn't help matters. I feel vaguely unhealthy in a can't-put-my-finger-on-it way. But my friend gave me a lovely cuddly and totally unexpected prezzie, and the evening was nice.
