Doctor Who and other TV stuff
Jun. 25th, 2005 01:59 amWe finally watched the final two epis of this year's season of Doctor Who yesterday - and I have to say I'm utterly disappointed that Eccleston quit. I really enjoyed his performance. The entire season was funny, sometimes creepy, and very addictive. Hands up who liked Captain Jack! And that goodbye kiss. *bounce*
I also watched the first epi of S1 4400 - but I'm not sure I'm hooked. Will watch another epi, then I'll decide.
The Inside also fails to convince, even though it's more fun than The Closer. But if I had to pick one of the new crime scene/profiler/forensics shows I'd go with Bones. That too has a female lead but it also has a nice looking David Boreanaz, and nice banter, plus a support cast that promises to be interesting. A well-dressed but under-challenged Adam Baldwin alone is not reason enough to watch The Inside, where the lead character's doe eyes and victim vibe are already getting on my wick. The lead in The Closer is much more interesting and fun - too bad that the writing sucks. What the writers of the show are trying to sell the viewer as interrogation techniques or strategies is just too superficial. I do not need to be hit over the head with everything, and I certainly find that a character shouldn't be required to talk in the second person singular all the time. Come on, let the suspect talk too. If it's called dialogue there should be at least two people talking...
Personally I don't think either of these shows will last long, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with Bones - less gross, more fun.
As for RL, well, I had three different venues today, Toyah's farewell party at kindergarten, a fundraiser party at school, and the St. Johannis bonfire. So I didn't get anything done. But tomorrow I'll have a few hours by myself. Hubby is taking the kids to a chess tournament. And in the evening I'm going to see a football match. YAY!
Anyway, if you see my muse loitering around somewhere, tell her to see me tomorrow, 8 o'clock sharp, ok?
