Quick RL update

Had my third Irish Dance class yesterday. Am limping now. But fun was had.
Tomorrow I have a second job interview - for a second creative writing course. Wish me luck. This would be a course for students of other subjects than English Lit (like engineering) so the level of English would be... questionable. It means I'd have to adapt the curriculum accordingly. It would be a lot of work running two courses. I'd have to mark a lot of texts to grade them, but two courses together would seriously boost our finances, even if only from October to February.
On Friday a friend and I are teaching short prose at a school in a nearby town. Oh crud, I just remembered... Toyah's kindergarten year ends on Thursday. Eeeek. *bangs head on desk* Hubby won't be pleased...

I am currently reading Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way - thanks to the_resa_ii. Time to do my morning pages now.

TV stuff

mikelesq suggested I should check out the pilot for Global Frequency - warning me that it's a pilot WB decided not to pick up.Oookay, let's add WB to the List of Morons TM (which is of course headed by Fox for cancelling, among other things, Firefly). Nice slant, nice characters, great potential for interesting storylines - a hint of Alias without the irritating presence of Sidney Bristow (gag). Alas, not gonna happen. What a shame. I'd have happily tuned in.
I miss House and Medium. I am getting bored by profiler dramas. Or as mikelesq said in chat last night: just how many serial killers are there running around in LA? So many nutty!killer scenarios have been done already, the TV shows have to really scrape the barrel in order to come up with something new. It's like being in first grade: "my killer is more gross than yours, he cuts off people's faces." -- "yeah, but our dead body's been eaten by maggots for a few weeks". Excuse me while I hurl.
*shakes head*
I want a new SciFi series, something shiny and space-y - and not the kind that makes all alien planets look like Vancouver's backyard. *whine*

stupid codecs

I have two avi files which my Windows Media Player claims it needs extra codecs for. When I go to the DivX site I end up utterly confused. I downloaded the DivXplayer, but that's not really a solution. Is there some kind of trick? What do I have to download where? Which version do I need? I don't want to reigster anywhere... Help?
This goes way over my head.
