Gee, I suck at writing copy!
Mar. 31st, 2008 02:28 pmSo what else is new. Makes me wonder what Shakespeare would think about copywriters if he still were alive (not that I'm comparing myself to The Bard... ). I read up on the rules of copywriting. Gag me with a spoon. Whenever I read a text that follows the copywriting rules (stuff like "satisfaction guaranteed - or you money back!") I kick it into the spam bin or avert my eyes, because I really really hate blatant advertising.
I also hate translating this kind of language with a passion . For once I'd like to translate decent prose!
Anyway, the translation I mentioned in previous posts is almost done. The deadline had to be rescheduled. Tonight the English version of myper (a business networking tool - a bit like LJ only for business contacts) will be uploaded to the servers. Of course NOW I know better words for some of the categories than the ones I picked at the beginneng. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the inferior terminology. it's too late to change the whole thing.
If one of you guys would take a quick look at the following (short) newsticker entries and point out any blatant mistakes, I'd be much obliged. Pretty please? Makes Bambi eyes. You will find them behind the cut:
I will be glad, when this project is done. It would be nicer if I actually got paid for it, but hey, helping out family is always good karma. Unfortunately, my next project is looming ahead: The summer semester starts in two weeks, and I still have to prepare my course. Oops. Not to mention a certain fanfic that I'm working on whenever I have a little moment to spare.... I promised myself I wouldn't post any more chapters until I've finished the whole thing. So keep your fingers crossed.
What else is new? Vicky is sick - has been queasy for a whole week, but finally started throwing up on Saturday night. *sigh* She's better today, still, we won't send her back to school until wednesday or Thursday. Perfect working conditions for me. Not. *sigh*
