My eldest daughter just told me that I'm her favorite mom. Of course I am, she amended, she's only got one mom, so I'm her favorite. So I told her it's not very flattering to be the best in a group of one, that it's nicer to be the best in a group of 100. Whereupon she told me she actually likes everybody, but she likes me best. Awwwww. Now I'm bubbling with maternal pride. *sigh*

Thank you. She really is a kind-hearted soul. Luckily, she's also popular at school, so she's not being stomped upon all the time. :-)

I tell my son (now age 22) that all the time, that he's my best boy. It took him to about age 7 or 8 to realize that not only is he my -only- boy but he is my only child.

I still say it however...

That's cool. I don't think anyone ever tires of hearing that they are special. Children should always have the certainty that their parents thing they're grand and wonderful and loveable and that their parents derive joy from having them.

I'm glad you still tell him... :-)
