Whee! Sixty Minutes and Perdition Catch my Soul got nominated for the SlashFest 2003 award - in the Angst/Dark category. Yay! It's an award where readers vote for the nominated stories. The voting period lasts one month. As usual there are lots of nominated stories to read. :-)
And since 'Repossession' is nominated in the same category, there's no need for me to be nervous: I'm pretty sure, Repo will win....

Today I spent almost 9 hours tidying up our house and going through boxes in the cellar, throwing things away; also doing laundry, and doing mom stuff. then I rewarded myself with about two hours of playing Final Fantasy X.
Mr. Estepheia is working hard as well. He has an important meeting tomorrow morning, at the crack of dawn, so to speak. And an even more important meeting on Monday. So I have to keep the kids off his back, keep him happy, and try not to distract him, since he's working at home. *sigh*

Yesterday we spent Silvester with b-i-l and s-i-l and their kids, two hours from Braunschweig. It was better than expected. We even got to try out a new boardgame, which was fun (hubby and I both won - *evil chuckle*). On our drive back we had really foggy weather. A few times visibility was in the range of 5 yards only. It was real pea soup and took us much longer to drive home, but it was kinda pretty too. You feel utterly isolated when you suddenly lose sight of the tail lights of the car in front of you. Fog like that really puts films like Master and Commander into perspective.

I joined a fitness studio yesterday - they had a special offer, hence the rush. I now have 4 weeks to find out if I like it or not, otherwise I'm stuck with it for a whole year. It's the third studio I'm going to. The first was shock full of steroidy hunks. I joined when training for the Braunschweig Blue Lions (our then newly founded American football team) and didn't like the place. When I got pregnant I had to raise a fuss to get out of the contract. A few years later I joined another studio for a year or so. They let me out of my contract when I got pregnant again. I like workouts that require strength instead of stamina, I like workouts with fitness machines, but I will never ever try jogging again. *shudder*
Anyway keep your fingers crossed that the studio and I get on. :-)

Okay, I better get back to my writing. I'm working on Ethan's fate right now. :-)

PS: Our Firefly DVDs finally arrived a couple of days ago. Unfortunately we had to pay custom tax on it. Grrrrr. So unfair!

Congratulations on your nominations. Good luck!

I wrote two fic snippets for you in honor of the New Year.

Good Things Come in Threes

Spike hated being tied to a chair in Xander's basement. Loathed it. Detested it. It reminded him of being stuck in the wheelchair and forced to listen to Angelus and Dru play their little games. Of course, now it was Xander and his demon girl, off in a corner, whispering.

"Let's play 'Spies'," Spike heard Xander say. "One person is captured and tortured for information. The torturer, however, can only use their tongue to make the spy talk."

"Who goes first?" Anya murmured

Spike watched in amazement as Xander pointed at him.

Maybe being tied to a chair wasn't so bad, after all.

Not A Fellowship, Not Yet An Alliance

"And why would you consent to help us, Ethan?"

"Really, Rupert, I may be evil, but even I have my standards. It used to be amusing when it was only one or two, but now, everyone's doing it."

"Bloody plague on the planet," muttered Spike, before downing another glass of whiskey.

"I've done plagues," said Ethan, "and although I must concede that there is a similar air of misery, the entire feeling of..."

"Ahem." Giles cleared his throat, interrupting Ethan. "Be that as it may, we're all in agreement. We're going to use every means we have to put an end to this travesty."

The three looked at one another and nodded. The current practice of untalented people selling their souls to Satan to become famous rock stars was going down.
