I don't want to be spilery regarding Veronica Mars 2x01. Let's just say that things didn't quite turn out the way I'd hoped. And that I'm tempted to work on that fic that I started. *bangs head on desk*

2x01 is one of the weakest episodes ever. Disjointed structure, too many flashbacks (which cannot but create distance between the viewer and the characters), clunky exposition. I agree with [livejournal.com profile] paratti that the focus on the whole boyfriend issue detracted from the story, in fact, it made Veronica weak and superficial. I liked the tough girl we saw last year. I wasn't grievously annoyed when she was paralyzed by fear in 1x22, she had every right to be, but I expected her to bounce back. I didn't expect her to take a job as a waitress. In 2x01 she was too much like Buffy: trying to be normal. Are we to understand Veronica only became her dad's 'partner' to solve Lilly's murder?
I didn't like the way Logan went back to being a jerk. I didn't like the way the scene on the bridge played out. Didn't like that Meg hated her (will Meg be this year's ghost?). Hated Duncan (who's acting hasn't improved at all). Didn't like Beaver and whats-his-name. Thought Charisma looked hot but didn't care about her character. Cliché much?
Loved Weevil giving Veronica a ride.
BTW, I barely dare ask, but can anyone explain to me the term 09ers? I know they are the rich kids in Neptune, but where does the expression come from? Etymologically inclined minds would like to know...
Of course I'll keep on watching, if only for Keith Mars who is without doubt the best TV dad ever. I want one just like him!
