So. I watched a lot of TV lately: Veronica Mars episodes 19 and 20. CSI 7x24, Supernatural 2x22...

Watching VM was painful. Not because the last few epis were bad. Far from it. I loved how the last few episodes brought back Wallace (who was there but not there for most of the season), Beaver (at least his memory), Mr. Cassidy, Duncan and Lily (even if only as portraits), and Mr. Kane. Mac was back with her computer skills, Vinnie was his usual smarmy self, there was even a reference to the Fitzpatrick. Logan and Parker broke up (thank god). There was a lot of loose ends picking up, or of loose ends mentioning, and there was a lot of Weevil, which made me squee inside, but at the same time it really hurt, because it felt like the show was saying goodbye to the fans... It really hit me when Wallace flew his plane at the beach, like he did in the first epi of S1.
*wails*
Even when the show wasn't at it's best, it was always better than most other shows. I want another season! Does anyone have definite news? Will there be another season? Or a movie about a young FBI intern? The characters are too good to just fade away. Do I have to sate my need for more with fanifc?

Watching the Season finale of CSI was almost as painful. I had heard rumors that one of the regulars would die, and somehow I feared it might be Grissom. Anyway, the finale works very well, but now I have to wait for months until the cliffhanger is resolved. I also loved the fact that Lady Heather reappeared this season- even though I was annoyed that the writers decided to make her more vulnerable. A fantastic character who undoubtedly has great chemistry with Grissom.

Oookay, and Supernatural... I am not sure why, but the formula no longer works for me. Maybe it's because the characterisation is lazy. the acting is fine, but we no longer discover new facets about the characters. *shrug* I loved the prison episode, but the season finale epis were a bit meh. I never sensed a true menace. And Dean's decision? No big surprise there. Another big thing the boys can angst over. I think the trouble with this show is that there's so much text there's little room for subtext. The characters constantly tell us how they feel, which robs them of their mystery. Still it's good entertainment. I'll still watch the show when/if it returns. But fanfic? Don't need any. I heard there's great fanfic out there. But somehow I don't feel like reading it.

Soon The Dead Zone will return. And I can look forward to several Doctor Who epis (I only watched up to Epi 5. Did anyone else think that "The Shakespeare Code" rocked? I've shown that epi to half a dozen people and they were all hooked. Strike!

Oh, and there's one not TV-related thing I'd like to mention. After a trial period of 6 months my company has hired me. I now have lay-off protection. I still enjoy my job and I like the collegues. But it's not an easy job, it requires great concentration. And it requires me to find English words for items that I couldn't even name in German. Thanks to my job I learnt expressions like "press stud storm flap". Yay me. At my age it's not easy to learn new stuff, and the software we use often drives me crazy, but the bottom line is: work is good. Having a bit of money of my own is good. *smiles*

Thank you. Words cannot express how glad *I* am. I know you know how being poor sucks dead toads through bendy straws. We are still poor, but there's a bit of silver lining. At least we will be able to watch PotC3 next week. :)

I couldn't ever say we were poor, just that we had a constant cash flow crisis. Thanks to me working more hours, that's eased now and yes! pirate movie this weekend.

Yup, same here. We have enough to eat, we have computers, TV, DVD player, and we can go to the movies every once in a while, but we still have a cash flow crisis at the end of every month.
Still, having my own money helps. :)

Did you enjoy the pirate movie?

Honestly?
Not really. It had its moments, but I thought it didn't really have a story, it was more a case of faking one. There was no coherent theme - and to stylize a bunch of useless pirates as freedom fighters? Not working.
Also, Norrington's fate didn't work for me. *grumbles*

Oh well. Still, Johnny Depp was a pleasure.

I thought it was better than the second one, though - mainly because of Geoffrey Rush, who is obviously having a ball playing Barbosa, and Keith Richards' cameo.
