estepheia: (Spike and Ethan)

So. daughter #2 just threw up, therefore I'm not off to dance practice, and the trip to see Madagascar 2 that we had planned for the afternoon got cancelled. Oh well, gives me time to stick on my headphones and listen to music (to drown out the sounds of sqeaky kids' programs on TV) while writing.

I give you an incredibly shmoopy drabble set in the I-Spy-verse, about two or three days after I Spy. I was going to write about Ethan's time in Initiative custody but the story covers that angle already. Maybe I'll write a companion piece about Ethan's scars....

Scars

„Tell me,“ Ethan said, mapping Spike’s eyebrow with sensitive fingertips. “Did you get this scar before you were turned?”

Spike lay still. “First Slayer I killed nicked my brow. Wound never healed. Later found out her sword was enchanted.”

“What about this one?” Ethan picked up Spike’s left hand to trace the thin scar inside his palm.

“Christmas bauble. I was two. Mother said I never let go. Was lucky none of the tendons got cut.”

Ethan rested his hand on Spike’s heart. “And this?”

Spike hesitated.

“Tell me. I want to know everything about you.”

“Her name was Cecily.”

Thank you. :-)

Vicky is watching Disney movies until they come out of her ears. Poor widdle thing. Stomach bugs have been around for weeks, but we'd hoped to avoid them all. Oh well.

Awww, thank you! You're too kind! I know that a lot of people have moved on or put me on filters, because of my long spells of LJ inactivity, but you never fail to comment. *HUG*

You and shapinglight are the best!!!

Ouch! That hurt - but in a good way.

Hope the daughter recovers in good time for the festive season. Could it have been something she ate on 5th?

Hi! Long time no see! And thank you for your feedback. :-)

Not sure if it's sth she ate. We had a raclette yesterday, but we all feel fine. I'm sure it's a proper bug. But I hope she'll get better soon. She's not feverish, which is good. She once had a rotavirus, that was really bad. She had to go to hospital for more than a week. This seems much more harmless. Just a bother, I guess.

I love your icon! It's good to still see these icons around to remind me of the scenes I loved best. Buffy is no longer on my mind that much and many details are slipping, but icons like yours remind me why I loved the jossverses and the jossfandoms so much!!

It's lovely to see you posting Buffyverse drabbles again, especially at this time of year.

I just read the original story, as well. Your Ethan is tired and sad, in ways that his character always suggested, whenever he was on screen. It is nice the way you caught that and developed it. I like this Spike, too. Older and calmer, but still making his plans on the spur of a hunch. Very nice.

hello thismaz,
Thank you very much for leaving so much feedback!!!!
I read your entries in December and meant to thank you back then, but we had two birthdays in the family, and besides, I was working on two WIPs, so I never got round to it. But believe me, receiving detailed feedback like yours is a real treat, and greatly appreciated, even if the thank-you-comment takes a while to arrive.

I am happy you enjoyed this particular drabble and the original story, because the pairing does not work for many people. I once wrote an essay on the Spike/Ethan (my favourite pairing), but like I said, not many people "get" this pairing.

:-)
