I watched the pilot of Grimm - and enjoyed it. Later I found out that David Greenwalt is one of the showrunners. Go figure.
The vegetarian blutbad was a neat twist.
I read somewhere that the show has a lousy slot, against Supernatural and Fringe. I guess that means it will be short lived. *sigh*

As for Downton Abbey, does anyone else feel like hitting Mary over the head with a thick plank? I am of course rooting for Bates and Anna. But why is the only gay character of the show also one of the "bad" guys? *sigh* Naturally, the main pleasure is listening to Maggie Smith's aspirated upper-crust English. She is so brilliant! And I'm glad she's still working. (Throughout the filming of the HP movies I kept my fingers crossed, because she was such a marvellous McGonagall.)

This is a feature of ITV Sunday night dramas. In most of their recent Miss Marple's the villain is nearly always an evil lesbian.

Evil lesbians, huh? How outdated!
Someone should shove The Celluloid Closet down their throats....

I liked Grimm, too. It definitely had that scary/comic vibe that I miss so much from Buffy & Angel. Sad to hear it's probably doomed. But I'm also enjoying Once Upon a Time, which seems to have a better time slot.

I'm very much looking forward to S2 of Downton Abbey making it to the U.S., even if it's a bit idiotic. It couldn't be much worse than last year's revival of Upstairs Downstairs. And yes, it's always so great to see Maggie Smith. I saw her probably 35 years ago as old Queen Margaret in a stage production of Richard III at the Stratford, Ontario Shakespeare festival, and she seemed ancient then, so it's a bit of a miracle that she's still going!

Well, her wrinkles are proliferating during S2 - but she's still sharp and delivers her lines with aplomb.
she reminds me of margaret Rutherford who had the same unsinkable vibe. :)
And yeah, the show is a bit idiotic in part, some scenes work extremely well, others less so, but it's a show I try to watch as soon as the torrent becomes available. And that's saying something.

I just pulled Once Upon a Time, but haven't seen it yet. Still have to catch up with Doctor Who.

Actually, Grimm did okay, especially against the World Series:

ew.com. Whether it'll last will depend on how it does over the next few weeks.

I also watched the pilot of Once Upon a Time last night, but I think I prefer Grimm, although I enjoyed seeing "Cameron" again. :)
Wouldn't mind following both shows... *crosses fingers*
