... is really growing on me. I love the cast. Robert Carlyle is awesome as Rumpelstilzkin. The evil mayor is terriffic, too. Good bad guys go a long way. :) But I like the other characters, too, particularly Emma.
I just hope the showrunners won't stick to the storybook-character-of-the-week format forever. Once they have all their ducks in a row, they can start on slightly more intricate storylines...

If I had to choose between Grimm and Once Upon a Time, I'd probably go with the latter right now. Doesn't mean that I don't like Grimm. I enjoyed all the episodes that aired so far. The Blutbad is an interesting character, but we need to see more of him - so far he's a bit like a deus ex machina on legs, i.e. useful but quickly shuffled off-screen, once he's done his supernatural bit. It will be interesting to see how the format develops... One thing is not good about Grimm, though. For the life of me, I cannot remember a single character name. After 4 epis that's not a good sign. ( I do remember the weird German though. "Blutbaden" bwahaaa)

Anyway, I'm just glad that there are a few shows out there that I enjoy. :-)

A very pretty show - full of pretty faces. The fairy tale segments are a bit camp sometimes, but it's fun.
Not inclined to write fanfic, not by a mile - I suppose I'd need a season cliffhanger for that....

I find Grimm very formulaic. I don't see it as much with OUaT. OUaT seems way more creative, whereas Grimm is your typical cop/detective show with supernatural bits thrown in.

Yes it's very formulaic. I totally agree. On the other hand, I've seen other shows start out formulaic and then evolve into something more interesting.... Angel was a bit on the boring side for a while...

Oh well, if Grimm doesn't pan out, I can always rewatch five seasons of Angel. I always meant to do that, anyway. :)

Don't get me wrong. I still watch Grimm - and House, for that matter. I just find OUaT more...fulfilling?

Both are good (but early, so I'm wary), but the problem is they're both stories of reluctant heroes, and that doesn't work unless you believe the hero wants to walk away.

OUaT, I buy it. She has a lot of guilt about giving up her kid for adoption, his story is absurd, and it would be the easiest thing in the world for her to hop in her VW and go back to her old life. The Call to Adventure is a tough one.

Grimm, on the other hand, he's already a cop, so it's not like he didn't choose a gritty life to begin with. And he knows first hand that the monsters are real, so it's not a question of whether to believe it. The only hint of a price to be paid is his relationship with his girlfriend, and we really haven't seen that impacted so far, and they have no chemistry anyway. The basics are there, and they know how to tell a story, but I'm hoping these are just establishing episodes to set up stories I'm more invested in.

I think the one thing I dislike most about Grimm is the fact that the hero is a cop. That's a bit to formulaic. But I'm hoping he'll lose his job soon, and then things may get more interesting. (Since his Partner is a regular, it's unlikely, I know, but we'll see.)
And yes, no chemistry with the girlfriend - but I'm pretty sure she'll turn out to be not human. Or she gets killed. Either way, I doubt she'll stay.
