Just found out that there is such a thing as a 'Professionals' Bodie/Doyle AU slash fanfic in which Bodie is a surgeon and Doyle is an artist. I don't know why I'm surprised. It seems a weird choice. Slash I can accept but the AU kind of weirds me out. Let's just say that's not a scenario that instantly pops into my mind when someone uses the words 'fanfic' and 'The Professionals' in one and the same sentens. ;-)

A while ago the news spread that Amber Benson was planning to tour Europe with her movie 'Chance' - even Germany was listed as one of the counties she was going to visit. I just checked the website of the organizers but the announcment (which was for August and September) still hasn't been updated. Does anybody know if these plans have imploded entirely?
Has anyone ordered 'Chance' yet (can be done at Amber's site)? Has it been delivered? 55 bucks for a DVD is a lot of money (actually it's 45 plus 10 for postage, but still), especially since I'd have to pay customs. So, what's the quality of the DVD like? [livejournal.com profile] caille said she liked the movie a lot, and I have heard others state that it's worth watching, so that's not what I'm asking. I want to know if the DVD has decent sound and a good picture. Does anyone know?

Since I'm not writing today (blocked, again) I am at least reccing stuff....

VID:
Flight Plan by Wicked Amp
SONG: Chop Suey
ARTIST: System of a Down
FOOTAGE: AtS S4
My comment: Visually interesting. At first I thought it was too flashy, making too much use of special effects (and I just realized I barely have the verbal inventory to review vids), and I didn't like the song much either. I thought both the song and the vid were too.... loud, I guess. But now both are among my favorites. It's loud and aggressive and it's cool viewing. Off the beaten track.

FIC:
She Dreams in Red by Hold_that_thought
PAIRING: none, this is about Cordy
RATING: R
GENRE: darkfic, short fic
SPOILERS: set after AtS S4 'Home'
SUMMARY: Cordelia still has layers
My omment: A dark tale, effectively woven, that doesn't force-feed the reader but is evocative and specific where necessary. I enjoyed the language and thought the story was more than plausible. It's short, so you'll hardly notice there's no Spike in it.

In case anyone is interested: the little kitty escaped this morning, but I picked up a rumor in kindergarden that it's now back with its initial owners who've been looking for it for weeks. I hope I can find out where these people live because I've grown attached and want to make sure kitty has a nice home....
Toyah told me the cat should come to visit every Tuesday. LOL. And she wants a kitty of her own, a real one!

Has anyone read The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber? Is it good?

I am browsing at Amazon to see what I should get for my birthday vouchers. I also received a 5 EUR voucher from Amazon because I reviewed Keith Topping's AtS episode guide Hollywood Vampire. I now have 55 EUR to spend there with good conscience. Yay!

Hah! I just ordered 4 books on creative writing from Amazon. I have to allow 10 days for delivery. English titles are not available at once. Anyway. once they're here and once I've read them, I will let you know if they are helpful or not.

The books I ordered are:
What If: Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers - Anne Bernays, Pamela Painter
The Key: How to Write Damn Good Fiction Using the Power of Myth - James N. Frey
Writing a Novel: And Getting Published - Nigel Watts
Dynamic Characters - Nancy Kress

Next on my list:
Plot (Elements of Fiction Writing) - Ansen Dibell

This reminds me, I meant to review the second of my novel writing book. *makes mental note*
I remember I reviewed one already. I think I will hunt down that post and put it into my memories. Have to go through my memories anyway and restructure them.
