Apparently, I am unable to multi-task. Either I'm a reasonably prolific writer and a crappy mom, or I'm a good mom and good-ish hausfrau (*gag*) and a writer who doesn't write, or, during winter, I'm full time depressed and have to channel all my energy into not throttling anyone in a fit of temper.
Swell.
I have more or less resigned myself to not writing anymore. Maybe things will get better in September, when Toyah goes to school... I will still try to get my WIPs done, but I shall endeavour not to feel frustrated and angry when I don't find the time to work on them. I'll just assume by default that I won't have time write, and rejoice when an opportunity to write springs up unexpectedly. *tries to look determined and not too unhappy.* No use getting upset over things that I can't change anyway.

I visited my second hand dealer but he doesn't have the AtS S5 DVDs yet. I'd like to watch the 5th season again to see if it rekindles the writing groove (I still have a Spangel story that needs a rewrite - a switch from present tense to past tense, among other things, and a better insertion into canon), but I want to watch it with the audio comments on.
Bought The Incredibles and National Treasure instead (not so much 'bought' but swapped them for a few old playstation games).
Toyah bought herself Lilo & Stich (also 2nd hand). Does anyone know the sequel? Is it any good? Number 1 is ever so cute. I expected it to be dull - but was pleasantly surprised. Maybe I'll give the Disney Lama movie a try after all... or not. The trailer sucked. As did the one for the Cow movie... Have to admit that I prefer the Pixar movies to the stuff Disney's been churning out. Call me old-fashioned, but Disney should be cute, saccharine, and suitable for 6-year olds. They should leave fast editing and cartoon-y character design to other studios.

You're not alone. I can't even keep the house clean (ish) when my kids are home. And I don't have German standards of cleanliness to contend with, either. My daughter started full-day Kindergarten this year, and it has made a huge difference in my ability to do creative work of any kind. But my house is still a pit.

Thanks. We should create a club where we can sit down and whine in chorus. LOL.
Um, German standards of cleanliness? Not my standards. In fact, the most fastidious person I know is south African. I am happy if the house doesn't look like a pig sty. I need a reasonably tidy kitchen with clear and clean surfaces so I can cook, but the floor... gets cleaned a lot less often....

kindergarten ends at 12, school at 12.45 - so my mornings are excruciatingly short... Bah.

*sigh*

I wish I had one guaranteed day every week where no one bothers me from 9 to 5. Sometimes it happens on Saturdays. From 11-4. Sometimes. Bah.

Um, German standards of cleanliness?

I was afraid I was going to get myself into trouble with that comment! But when I lived in Germany (granted, over 20 years ago) even the dorms and the 4-guy apartment I stayed in were at least as clean as my house growing up, and noticeably cleaner than any house I've ever lived in as an adult. My standards are probably on the low side, but still.

That's WAY too short. I have from about 8:30 to 2:15 most weekdays, and it's still too short. And now I have to go pick up a loaf of French bread for the teacher appreciation lunch today.

I adore Lilo & Stich. I think part of the reason is that Lilo is not a perfect child by any standards. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the sequel is like.

The Emperor's New Groove (is that the llama story you're referring to?) is very silly. Extremely silly. It doesn't resonate deeply as some of Disney's better offerings, but if you're in a mood for something extremely light-hearted, you may like it. My kids love it, but my family tends to love silliness.

Oh yeah, Lilo is such a cute kid and her sister too is a nice character, fallible but likeable. A cute fun movie.

TENG... well, maybe we'll rent it. I don't know anyone who actually bought it, even though many of our friends are Disney fans.
Personally, I'm not into silly. :-)

Stitch the Movie is very cute, I think my boy likes it as well as the original.

Oh, ok, thanks. Will try to rent it then. :-)

I have the same problem--only it's housekeeping and school, not housekeeping and parenting, that I have trouble juggling with writing. I keep hoping that now (I'm on a more normal schedule, I'll be living alone soon, etc.) I'll be able to balance everything better, but it's not terribly likely....

Then you're like me, you need a clone. LOL.
Theoretically I have enough time. I could write in the evenings, but it seems that lately my brain shuts down at 7 pm sharp. I turn into a vegetable. I can read or watch TV, but can't create.
Plus hubby wants to spend time with me... oh well.
One day this situation will resolve itself and I'll have more time. Here's hoping. September... *crosses fingers*

Technically, yes, I have time too, but... I don't. I have a few hours a day when my brain is sharp, and once I've done all the things I have to do, academically, there's only a bit of time left for writing, if any at all.

I think we both should have clones, and then we'd be unstoppable.

Oh, one more thing--about Disney movies: Did you see Disney's "Treasure Planet"? All four of us, ranging in age from four to forty-something, loved that movie. I never could figure out why it got such lousy reviews.

God, I hated that one, and so did hubby. I never liked Treasure Island either. I found the artwork painful to look at. Dreadfully ugly. Boring too. Luckily I only borrowed it.
We all loved L & S - and we are great fans of the Lion King.
We hated Mulan and the Quasimodo movie.

How funny! I loved Mulan (but didn't see it with kids), liked L&S a lot, was so-so on the Lion King (it was too big a rip-off of the "Kimba the White Lion" show from my childhood for me to really love it). Didn't see "Hunchback."

I thought the way "Treasure Planet" put traditional 2-D animation on 3-D backgrounds was incredibly cool. I'm wondering if that was exactly what you didn't like about the artwork? And I loved the Long John Silver character. I think he was a first--a character in a Disney movie who displayed actual moral ambiguity.

On the other hand, I thought "Finding Nemo" was pretty to look at, but a bit boring in stretches. Although I loved the turtles, and the seagulls saying "Mine! Mine!" Anyhow, I'm not complaining. It was better than watching "Barney's Circus" again.

I'll be very sorry if you don't write, but on the other hand am amazed that you've managed to do so much over the years and keep going so long.

Anything you do write at any time will be very, very welcome, but in your own time.

The sequel is mostly harmless, and mainly exists as a segue to the TV show. Can't hold a candle to the original, but you probably won't spork your eyes out.

The lama movie, OTOH, is incredibly funny and cute, as long as you forget anything you know about actual Mayan history. *g*

There's a TV show??? Oh, I didn't know.
I do know that I loved Lion King 2 and Beauty & Beast 2, so the video sequels aren't necessarily bad...

As for the llama movie... I may rent it out eventually.... Thanks. :-)
