I'm beginning to wonder if the sole reason why Dawn was introduced into the story-line was the plan to eventually use her to close the hellmouth. It would fit with the whole women-empowerment-agenda if the hellmouth gets locked up by a girl, right?

Dawn the potential next Slayer may just have been sleight-of-hand, a distraction. Dawn's keyness hasn't been mentioned in such a long time... I don't think ME have forgotten, I think they want us to forget.

Could I live with it, if at the end of the show Dawn turns into a green blob of energy and locks up the hellmouth, thus fulfilling her destiny? You betcha.

Who do we think is going to insert the key and turn it? How about Willow? The Wicca who is a power magnet.

Closing the hellmouth would require something special, otherwise it would have been done before. The only thing newly accessible is the key. It has existed for a long time but was hidden. Now that it's found it can be used.

(BTW, I still wish ME would bring Doc back)

In case I haven't mentioned it in a while: I love the show and look forward to a hopefully stunning conclusion with lots of closure and just the right mix of happiness and sadness.

And now for something completely different

"My summer holidays were a complete waste of time. Before, we used to go to New York to see my brother, his girlfriend and their three screaming kids face to face. I love New York, it's a great place.

But my parents were so worried because of the terrorism attack on September 11 that they decided we would stay in Scotland and spend two weeks up north.

Up north, what you see is what you get - nothing. I was extremely bored in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but sheep and mountains.

At any rate, my parents were happy. They said that it could be worse, and that they were happy with the peace and quiet. I don't think so! I wanted to go home as soon as possible, to see my mates again.

Today I came back to school. I feel very saintly because I have done all my homework. Now it's business as usual..."

Actually, I think the fact that Andrew mentioned it in Storyteller is a clue to what's to come. I totally think that the Key will come into play before the season is out.

I think you're on to something -- the line from Joyce that "Buffy won't chose you" and the strange, offhand mention of the key? Yes, Dawn is being set up for something big.

America Online's Instant Messenger is creating a whole new language form. It's amazing really ... IMHO :-)

Actually, it's not IM-speak but SMS speak. Everybody in Scotland has a cellphone. About 4.000.000 SMS messages are sent every day. That's almost one per inhabitant.
Obviously school boards are concerned about this.

I am beginning to think that acronyms like CWOT are going to become the modern Kanjis.

Can you imagine spacefaring archaeological aliens trying to decipher that in a few thousand years? I have this vision of an alien pointing at that message and explaining to an auditorium of other colorful alien that the strange Earth language is using phonetics, pictograms and acronyms at the same time...

It's amazing that this whole new way of communicating has evolved so quickly. Can two people in different countries use SMS and totally understand each other or are there regional/cultural differences?

Such a funny visual :-) It'll be the subject of one alien thesis after another, and another ...
